The Hub is an innovative art studio and entertainment space in the heart of Port Angeles, WA. It serves as both a flexible testing ground for artists and designers, and as a lively center for gathering in the community (more info at www.thehub.art). As an automobile garage originally built in 1920, the process to adapt the building into a community creative space involved building and site feasibility studies, 3d LiDAR scanning, building code research and application, creating fully permitted drawing packages and leading community engagement sessions. When done right, adaptive reuse is a powerful design process to accelerate the sustainability goals in the building and construction industry.
